And just like that the summer is over and the start of college for me is just around the corner….
After being on my summer holiday for about 3 months, I am actually kinda glad to be going back to college next month.
Literally all I have done this last month is work. I have 2 jobs and have been trying to save as much money as possible so I haven’t had a lot of time to do things that I perhaps wanted to do but that’s alright. I have time to do those things in the future as I’m focusing on saving for university now. August is never usually a good month for me because I like structure and I enjoy college (I know, I’m a nerd) so sitting around not doing much really affects my mental health.
However this year I caught the signs early and have managed to control it more by taking some time out to spend a few days somewhere different and I’m feeling pretty good. So if you’re starting to feel down then I’d recommend taking some time out to go somewhere new for a change of scenery. I’ve talked more about my mental health in my previous post: Realising You Need to Get Your Life Together | Life Reset Series 1.0
Anywayyy. last month my August Moodboard! post was more popular than I thought it would be so I have decided to keep doing it. Basically it’s a chance to see what is up and coming in the world of fashion and other things that have interested me and hopefully you will find interesting too!
Taking stealing your boyfriends oversized jumper to the next level.
As someone who is single, I’ve never had the luxury of taking their jumpers but now I don’t need to because fashion becoming a size up. From reading far too many fashion magazines I have seen how clothing is becoming less fitted and elegant and now designers are experimenting with silhouettes and proportions which I really love. Designers are just being so much experimental and bold with their designers which is the sort of look I am interested in and totally contrasts fashion from the past that was much more simple and very much the same. Every designer is so different nowadays so I am excited to see this oversized trend more in clothing shops.
I am a sucker for an oversized item of clothing, whether it’s top that I can wear as a dress or a pair of dungarees because it’s so much more comfortable than a pair of skinny jeans in my opinion.
With Autumn fast approaching, it is now coat season.
I love Autumn fashion with a more toned down colour palette and being able to layer clothing, I just love it. The one item of clothing that never truly goes out of season each year is the statement coat. I’ve noticed this year the coats are a lot more formal looking in that they’re mostly long with buttons down the front and the majority are in the classic checked pattern. I’ve seen some great ones in Primark that I’ve been dying to get my hands on.
Long gone are the waterproof coats from Superdry that EVERYONE wore at my secondary school, and now it’s all about the long statement coat. So be prepared to start seeing these everywhere!
Sustainable fashion is becoming more mainstream with it’s own Elle issue.
The September issue of Elle is dedicated to sustainability which I think is amazing because it’s something that I’ve always wanted to know more about and I think it’s something that more and more people are talking about.
I’m not going to say anymore because my next is going to be all about the issue which you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled for!
People are starting to embrace their body hair.
I read this article recently which made me so happy to see that more people are talking about body hair because in some ways I guess it’s a controversial topic. I think that both woman and men should be able to have their body hair how they want it and not be judged. Notice how I’ve put men and women because I’m sure there’s men out there that would prefer to be hairless but it’s seen as normal for them to have hair.
Personally I have no problem with body hair and honestly I hardly ever shave my legs and it’s only this year that I’ve embraced it more and gone out in a skirt with unshaven legs. Just because I’m a women I don’t feel like I should shave. It’s my body. It’s my choice.
I would love to know what your opinion is on body hair!
The rainbow has now made it’s way into autumn/winter 18 clothing.
This summer has really been about Pride and the LGBT+ community which makes me soooooo happy as a supporter of it! Sadly I didn’t get to go any of the events (this is what happens when you work all the time) but I saw a lot of the coverage and it all looked amazing. I love how things are starting to change regarding the community and how people talk about it more now than before. Things are really starting to change and it’s about time.
With all this happening in society it has weaved it’s way into the fashion industry with clothing just being completely rainbow coloured. There doesn’t seem to be as clear of a colour palette for the season as there normally is, everything is just very bold and colourful! I feel like everyone needs this positivity at the moment with everything that’s going on in the world.
Even though I am going back to college I am going to try my absolute best to keep regularly blogging but at the end of the day my education is a priority so I may have to take a step back at some point. But you can follow me on Twitter (@its_indi_) to keep up to date with what I’m up to!
What are you looking forward too in September? Are you going to college?
