What an unbelievable year 2019 was and I expect that 2020 will be even better!

As cheesy as it sounds 2019 was the best year I have had for quite a while. It was a very big year as I left the confines of education to start adult life working full time and starting my gap year adventures by visiting 5 different countries. I have definitely grown a lot this year in terms of my confidence, sadly not my height.

2020 is set to be an even bigger year for me because I will finally be moving out and starting university which is very daunting for me, but before that I have many exciting adventures planned which I shall keep on sharing on here.

I know that everyone likes to make new years resolutions but I tend to do something different, I select a word for the year and create goals based off of that. So my word of 2019 was CONSCIOUS because I started trying to live a sustainable life and I like to think I have succeeded and have changed up loads of bad habits. It was also the year that I started to boycott against fast fashion which was definitely the best decision of the year!

This year my word is CONSISTENCY. I have a very bad habit of starting projects and exercise regimes only to stop after about a week and it frustrates me because it makes me feel very lazy. Working full time means I have little time for projects and even for this blog but I really want to get my act together and consistently post and keep on doing mini side projects based around drawing and fashion. I also am doing a half marathon very soon which I haven’t trained for much so I need to get my butt out of bed and go running more!

In previous years I have put a lot of pressure on myself to live a perfect life by trying to get up early and run or do some yoga and meditate and eat tiny meals and write massive to do lists. However 2019 was the year I stepped back and stopped controlling myself so much and I just let myself do whatever I wanted and see where life took me and this made me so much happier. If I wanted to spontaneously go to the pub then I would instead of thinking I have to get up at 6 to go running or something.

Therefore this year I want to slowly integrate things like yoga back into my life but not putting a lot of pressure on myself at the same time, if that makes sense. I have started bullet journalling again (another thing that I give up after a month) and have broken down my goals into smaller manageable chunks that I can do every week. I am hoping this system works better and if it does then I shall definitely be doing a post about it.

I am determined to upload a blog post once a week! Last year I put pressure on myself to upload like 3 times a week which is definitely not realistic given my schedule which why I would sometimes go a month without uploading… so this year I am aiming for 1 post a week so that I can then put more effort into the posts instead of rushing them because it’s always quality over quantity.

So here’s to 2020 being the best year yet!

What are your new years resolutions or goals?

  1. Here’s to a year of consistency! Look up how your ‘future self’ will often set projects and goals that your ‘present self’ won’t be able to sustain, this is at the root of procrastination too. If you plan around the quirks of your ‘present self’, your consistency will really begin to flow …

      1. Are you winning at getting all those big ‘future self’ goals broken down into digestible chunks that your ‘present self’ is able to achieve? I need to thank you for getting me signed up to a WordPress account today πŸ™‚ and I’m intrigued to hear if the bullet journalling is helping. I’ve long been using a to do app … I like it but it’s missing that little something that helps to get things done!
